Tour Guidelines
Location
The exact tour location will appear in your booking confirmation email to minimize traffic to the site. Tours take place in the Vernon Bridge Area, approx. 10 minutes East of Stratford.
Hike Info
Tours take place along a flat, rocky shoreline. Participants will have to step up and down over some 1-foot-tall rocks as we walk. Access to the shore will require descending a small flight of stairs. There are slippery rocks at the tour site; it is essential that you listen to your educator’s tips on where to walk.
Persons that require a cane or walker will have difficulty with this tour.
Unfortunately wheelchair access is not available.
Fossil Collection
Any fossils found on your hike must be left where they were found, as per regulations indicated in Prince Edward Island’s Archaeology Act. Taking pictures of fossils to remember your experience is more than welcome.
Injury
Prehistoric Island Tours is not liable for any injuries sustained during your guided hike. Your educator will provide you with safety tips to avoid injury at the beginning of your tour.
Sturdy Footwear
It is recommended you wear sturdy footwear in the form of sneakers, hiking boots, or sandals with heel straps.
Washrooms
There are no washroom facilities on site. Please try to use the bathroom before arriving. There are several gas stations along the way on Highway #1 if you are heading East through Stratford.
