tour guidelines

LOCAtion

The exact tour location will appear in your booking confirmation email to minimize traffic to the site. Tours take place in the Vernon Bridge Area, approx. 10 minutes East of Stratford.

hike info

Tours take place along a flat, rocky shoreline. Participants may have to step up and down over rocks as we walk. Access to the shore will require descending a small flight of stairs. There are slippery rocks at the tour site; it is essential that you listen to your educator’s tips on where to walk.

Persons that require a cane or walker may have difficulty with this tour.

Unfortunately wheelchair access is not available.

fossil collection

Any fossils found on your hike must be left where they were found, as per regulations indicated in Prince Edward Island’s Archaeology Act. Taking pictures of fossils to remember your experience is more than welcome.

injury

Prehistoric Island Tours is not liable for any injuries sustained during your guided hike. Your educator will provide you with safety tips to avoid injury at the beginning of your tour.

sturdy footwear

It is recommended you wear sturdy footwear in the form of sneakers, hiking books, or sandals with heel straps.

 

covid-19

Masks are not mandatory on tours, however it is recommended that you social distance between groups. Hand sanitizer will be given to participants prior to the fossil pass-around.

washrooms

There are no washroom facilities on site due to vandalism issues. Please try to use the bathroom before arriving. There are three gas stations along the way on Highway #1 if you are heading East through Stratford.
